I've not seen this (acknowledge hangs workplace/system) in my years with 800xA.
We need a lot more information from you to be able to assist...
How do you acknowledge? Faceplate? Alarm List? Via OPC DA (writing to Alarm Global Properties)?
What alarm are you acknowledging? Origin? AC 800M? Alarm Expression? Other?
What is hanging? Workplace?
Do you get the red square (worplace watchdog) indiction after 30 seconds?
System hanging? Do you get any events in the [Workplace Structure]Web System Workplace:System Event List?
