UPnP service disable in 800xa License server
As a part of cyber security hardening policy, we need to disable the UPnP services. We are using Hardware dongle keys for 800xA license. If we disable the UPnP service, is it effect the license access?
Some discovery services are actually being turned on and exempted from Windows Firewall during Node Preparation (refer to the "800xA" column in Table 2 of the above referenced document, stretching pages 10 thru 16 and the following pages documenting firewall exclusions).
IIRC, System 800xA uses a Microsoft Windows discovery API in the System Configuration Console when searching for potential nodes to add to a system. Nodes not turning up may be added by typing their names manually. Adding a node to a system is assisted by having discovery enabled, but is, AFAICT, not strictly dependent upon it.
Some functions of System 800xA will likely be affected by turning off discovery protocols but I doubt the Central License Service is using it (it is based on HTTP/SOAP). Anyhow, proceed with caution and be prepared to return to a known good (and System 800xA certified configuration).
