In 800xA I need to open a webpage, but opening with IE11 does not work. Should I use Chrome or Firefox or Edge?
to be able to print a list of people that are on premise iProtect is used. Although iProtect should work with IE11 it doesn't open the needed pages. Placing a seperate machine isn't a wanted option.
Has anyone any experience with installing Chrome, Firefox or MS Edge on the 800xA client machines next to IE11 and are there known problems?
kind regards,
Patrick Buys

At support we often get questions like: "Can I install software X on 800xA computer Y having version Z of 800xA?"
My standard answer is: "nothing but what is installed according to, for the version appropriate Installation Manual and 3BUA000500 (in practice only detailing versions of the Microsoft Windows OS, MS Word, MS Excel and VMware) is approved with 800xA".
Does 800xA survive the installation of other software?
My answer is "very often, but not always".
I have installed Chrome on a few machines over the years without seeing any negative effects. This does not constitute a formal grant to try yourself.
I have seen official Matrikon software bringing a perfectly running 800xA server to a "general OPC halt".
Upgrading or downgrading Internet Explorer is likely a bad idea since the Plant Explorer and Operator Workplace uses numerous of "web technology" bundled with IE.
If you decide to try some unapproved third party software with System 800xA: proceed with caution and always always take a drive image backup before installing anything, that way you can always easily return to a known good state.
In the case of the malfunctioning server following installing some Matrikon software, it was recovered by uninstalling the offending software and installing the ABB Common Third Party Software bundle one more time.
