For the OPC client to be able to connect the remotely located OPC server, a number of DCOM settings are required.
Modern OPC applications operate in the asynchronous domain where server and client perform callbacks to each other. Asynchronous DCOM require additional DCOM settings in both the server and client.
I have attached a document we use in our ABB E143 Troubleshooting System 800xA Expert Workshop. The description is not tailor made to fit your configuration, nor PGP, but should be able to serve as a baseline for your understanding and configuration of DCOM.
NOTE: Never use administrative accounts for setting up communication with third party, instead, create dedicated accounts with appropriate permission level.
An asynchronous client/server configuration might require up to four (4) different user accounts in the Microsoft Windows workgroup/domain. The client application and the 800xA system need to be configured with some of them. Some of these accounts must have matching passwords.
