Is there any questionnaire on the ordering ESXi apart from the examples in the Virtualization manual?
Have a requirement where in need to suggest the virtualization hardware?
The one in the manual suggests the examples of Virtual Machine Definition based on 800xA Node Functions Item Node Function VM vCPU 1 Domain Controller 1 1 8GB 80GB 2 Batch Server 2 2 12GB 80GB 3 Aspect Server 3 2 8GB 80GB
How these numbers are derived?
Like are these based on number of aspects, number of OPC tags,Batch recipes etc..
Do we have any questions to be asked in deriving these numbers?
Any limitations like not being a 64 bit applications where we cannot utilize fully the allocated RAM etc..
A

It is difficult to calculate how much resources each role require. See these values as rough estimates.
It all boils down to the application the system will be handling and how the application is implemented.
The impact of the blend of system extensions is heavy; "800xA for Advant Master" is light while "AC 800M Connect" is heavier, even more if "Function Designer" is used to program it.
A server need fast disk I/O and "enough" primary memory. Start off "medium" but be prepared to install more memory if your application and programming method is "heavy".
A client need fast processor (in terms of GHz, not # of cores). If you desire high operator satisfaction, aim for rich clients with ~4 GHz CPU and a Graphics Accelerator card.
