Email not sending
I was trying to use Email alerts when an alarm or event occurs and I have configured as per the manual
But whenever a new alarm occurs Email is not sent and I have checked the Messenger Event Log and it shows error. I have inserted the snip of the error
Kindly help to resolve this
I assume you've done this with the SMTP relay trick, I've told someone here
and this work only without SSL/TLS !
You *must* debug this error.
- is your SMTP server reachable via IP and/or DNS. ping is here your friend.
Now I don't know how the transport is happening.
either via SMPT or SMTPS, latter one is with SSL/TLS
so you need to sniff your packets with Wireshark on
port 25 (SMTP) and port 465 (SMTPS)
You can type this in the filter line
"port 25 or port 465"
If you see packets on port 26, mostly readable, good
If you see packets on 465 i.e with
"TLS Client Hello" after the three way handshake
this is *bad*
in this case you need a certificate and this is difficult to setup and *create*
