Replacing ABB Drive ACS550 with ACS580
Currently, we have an ABB Drive ACS550 that is connected to 800xa through Profibus on a CI854. We are currently using Hardware type, RPBA-01 and the Unit PPO Type 4 to communicate with the ACS550. We are using device type from the PCDeviceLib, MotorVarSpeedBus to operate the rotary valve. We have had no issues communicating with the ACS550. However, we are trying to replace that drive with a ACS580 and all we get are red triangles at the Profibus IO. Do you know if I need to change my hardware type, unit type, or device type to get the ACS580 communicating? I am currently running 800xa V.5.1.

Hi
ACS550 uses the RPBA-01 board for the ProfiBus connection. Your 800xa controller therefore has a GSD file inside, specific for the RPBA-01 board.
Now, replacing the drive with the new ACS580, the ProfiBus card to use becomes the FPBA-01 and consequently, you should insert the relative GSD file in your controller, do all the work again ....
Luckily, ABB has also thought of those who, like you, have to replace a drive, but will not have to do anything on the controller side: you just need to select EMULATION RPBA-01 at parameter 51.07, in new ACS580.
Then remember to refresh with parameter 51.27
Keeping all the remaining ProfiBus configuration like that of the old ACS550, it should work.
Let me know if it's all fine.
Hope this help you
