We are in commissioning phase of an oil and gas plant and unfortunately 2 CPUs in 2 separate redundant nodes are failed. As we checked the problem is that both do not emit any optical beam to TB840 modules. We have unplugged the POF cables a lot from live system and I think it may have caused optical port of CPU failiure. I re downloaded firmware(6.0.3)to both CPU but no remedy. Does anyone has the same experience? Any idea?
Unplugging the POF cable from a live system will not damage the optical port, but it will fault the controller and thus cease to output any optical signal. You may very well have a bad couple of PM867's because there was a window of time where they were recalled due to optical ports not working (Product Revisions C & D), but that would have been discovered during internal testing prior to commissioning... If your TB840A's on that controller don't have the "S" LED light, then they are definitely not getting a signal or are faulty, or it could also be a broken POF cable
