Redundant EventCollector / OPC AE service provider
Sorry, I don't find it in the manuals: How does a redundant EventCollector Service Group switches activity?
One service provider is 'active', the other is 'standby'. (No 'parallel redundancy' as with OPC DA, as far as I see)
How can I configure the system to switch, when the active server has lost connection to the field?

Alarm service run in active /Standby mode it cannot be run active active -> 800XA system PLC connect of other it does not change over until complete system is failed in server side . To avoid the same it is recommended to run the OPC AE server always on the 800XA connect server : It better to contact the support-line i don't see any default option in 800XA system - rather you need to install and external software to take care the redundancy or switchover ( Matrikon Redundancy Broker might help you to take care this issue )

Is it 800XA System ?
Which particular service you are refer to ?
800XA System service switch over happen automatically doesn't need manual intervention.

You should configure affinity.

Ok, ok, my post was obviously a bit short. Anyway, thanks for giving a quick answer.
Let's give some more details: (Yes, of course, it is 800xA, currently still SV5.1)
I have a 3rd party OPC DA/AE server installed on 2 CS and integrate it using 'PLC Connect'. The 3rd party OPC Server communicates with some devices in the field.
In 800xA, the DA part is established as redundant pair of OpcDA_Connector service providers. 'Allow parallel redundancy' is set on the ServiceGroup. All is fine here.
The AE part is established as redundant pair of service providers in the 'Event Collector' area. Here I can see, that one service is active, and the other is in standby. A switch happens, when I stop the active service or kill the server process.
My problem is, that if the active server looses connection to the field (e.g. broken network cable) it is still running, so the 800xA Event Collector client does not get the problem and does not trigger a switch to the standby service.
This situation seems not to be part of OPC AE specification, so server and client behave conformant to it. But how to resolve the issue?
Any idea, how to configure a service disable/enable based on some property? The 3rd party OPC offers some items to supervise each instance individually ...
