800xA(6.0.3-2) Alarm Logger printing to external software using serial COM port
We have a project configuration to supply a printer functionality as it is with Advant OS500 system.
The print output is connected to a third-party system PC running PAS Software. This software receives the alarms and processes for repression on the PIN layer.
With an upgrade to 800xA 6.0.3-2 we have bought a moxa device:
Port 5110, 1 port device server, 10/100M
Ethernet, RS-232, DB9 male
This converts from RJ45 network connection in the connectivity server(virtual machine running in a ESXi host) into Serial port and then connects to PC running the PAS software.
800xA Alarm logger service is configured to run in Connectivity server
We know that the physical communication between 800xA Alarm logger and the PAS PC works as the alarm messages reach other side but we could not get the formatting to work correctly.
Please see the text file to give an idea on the format received on the receive side.
We have temporally changed to print to a physical printer (directly using RJ45 port) but the output is same as it is printing through serial port. We could not get each alarm to print in one line, instead it spreads across various lines.
Can anyone please help on 800xA logger settings to print each alarm in one line on the physical printer?
You will probably still get some printer control characters coming through every so often. Your Moxa device may be capable of filtering these out.
If possible, you would probably be better using a virtual serial port and getting rid of he Moxa hardware entirely.
