800xA 4.1 syncronization
Hello
I have a 800xa 4.1 system with 4 Conectivity Servers.
The time syncronization of the system is done with the time of de Conectivity Server which has service ABB.AfwTimeServer in state SERVICE.
Changig the windows time in de CS you change the time in the whole system.
Now i am required to conect an external GPS clock to make the time syncronization.
It is possible to conect the gps clock to one CS.?
I have tried to conect the stnp server to the CS. I have made a ping to check the conection and then i have selected the option enable external clock master . I set the ip of the stnp server in the filed above. But it didn´t work.
Thanks ind advance for your help

Hi,
I can't advise how to use external clock master in 4.1, no experience with that.
Usually I synchronize the Windows of the server to the GPS, using windows time functions:
Use registry value to make Windows update time frequently, the default value usually is 1 week.
Or sometimes I use AC800M for time server in the network, it can be easily synchronized to the GPS.

Hi , you can read the manual 3BSE034463 AutomationSystemNetwork pages 110, 111 , 112. it is for version 4.1
I hope the information can be useful

The external sync function only works with a Microsoft Windows node as server.
To slave to an external SNTP reference you can use W32Time service in the AfwTime master node.
Read the aforementioned users guide to learn how you can use w32tm.exe to setup the required parameters in Windows Registry. The "time client" need to be enabled and pointed to the reference clock. Then start Windows Time Service (set to Automatic startup mode).
Verify sync with checking events in Windows Event Log.
AfwTime should then relay the time to the other nodes.
