Data Direct
have used data direct on 6.0.1 system to access History data yesterday to present report format to a customer. This afternoon I attempted to continue but now every time I use the History 'macro' , get a clessidra, a long delay and No Data with the error code 0x8ABB000A. Tried on a different node - same result. DA and AE work fine.

8ABB000A = Timeout
What is the source HDA server you are trying to read from? Basic History?
What is the function call looking like?
Does trend aspect work in this client? A common problem in v6 is lack of firewall exclusion on server side following a manually created service provider. In this case, regular trends will follow same suite (no trend displayed). Improper affinity settings can cause the same effect (client locked out).
6.0.1 is old compared to 6.0.3.3, but Basic History has not gotten any major overhaul nor any critical bug corrections since your current version, AFAICT.
Sounds like you might have a too large Basic History log configuration and/or too many/heavy trend clients (embedded PG2 trends with long time scopes can be a heavy burden)
How many logs? How fast sample rate? You can't max out at 10.000 logs using 1000 ms sample interval for all, unless your server has unlimited hardware resources.
How large is the data storage folder (\OperateITData\History) - number of files - number of GB?
How many MB (private & virtual) is advhthistorysrv.exe? Is it rising constantly?
What are the Basic History System Health Check KPIs? (see attached file, item 8.5)?
