CI867 Modbus TCP Redundancy Switchover
it seems, that in C867 Redundant Master configuration the switchover happens only on cable break ( aka loss of link status) or internal fault.
Even when the controller correctly diagnosed a loss of the slave, the firmware does not try to reconnect using the backup master.
I am using FW CI867 5.1.2004.0 as of 2/21/2013
Where do I find newer version, which might solve this issue?
Is there a chance to trigger the switch-over from within the control program?
Thanks & best regards, Ulrich & Marcelo
Where do I find newer version, which might solve this issue? To get new firmware version you should contact with ABB support. Is there a chance to trigger the switch-over from within the control program? There is no option to switch between CI867 via software, if they are configured in redundant mode. But, please, check before if CI867 modules are not in error. Because, the controller switch between modules if the "stand-by" is running properly without errors. Check front leds
There are two types of redundancy supported in CI867
1. Card Redundancy - (On Card Failure or Cable Break - Switch Over occurs)
2. Application Redundancy - (User Defined Program required to do this, lot of references are there in AKS itself)
Cable break means its direct meaning is that all the slaves connected to CI867 is lost, hence switch over occurs. If you assume one slave connection fail at downstream level and if you expect switchover, it may not cover all possible scenarios.
Here two possible solutions for your problem statement:
1. Having a loop cable between Primary and Secondary Modbus Network Switche (Again we should be very cautious here to enable RSTP or any other loop breaking mechanism to avoid network storm)
2. Application Redundancy
