different 800Xa Systems data transfer
Hope you are safe.
our customer have 4 800Xa system 3 in version 6.0 and one in version 5.
is it possible to collect data from the systems with different version by OPC .
the customer don't want multi system integration.
they need to collect some data from all system to one system and use these data for reporting and calculations
is it possible or not ?
if yes can you please send me some guide lines or manual .
appreciate your reply in advance .
Even if a Generic 3rd Party OPC Connection in theory is possible with any OPC DA 2.0 compliant server (such as the Surrogate server of 800xA) it is not recommended here; uploading a remote system that have objects sharing name with the local system can put you in a very awkward situation when the Generic OPC Uploader inserts objects thinking it should merge two structures.
I don't know if PLC Connect's OPC connectivity can be better controlled?
The official statement from ABB would be: use MI
So this sounds like a job for a historian / reporting system.
Yes, what you want to do is "possible". And its fine for a "few" calculations. Just use 3rd Party OPC or 3rd Party Historian connectivity where your "third party" is actually another 800xA system. But beware of "scope creep" - where the job stops being just a "few" calculations and turns into being a full blown historian and reporting system.
Multisystem Integration is not a solution to this problem and your customer is correct to say "no".
ABB's solution here is "MOM" (Manufacturing Operations Management) - https://new.abb.com/cpm Other vendors can also offer different solutions based on scale from small ( https://opcdatahub.com/Home.html ) to massive ( https://www.osisoft.com/corporate/con...)
