Make sure Affinity is not blocking the failing client (see the use of All Nodes below).
Check that the servers and failing client have correct content in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file. A wrong or missing IP can do a lot of harm. Normally, RNRP will govern the hosts file - but in some cases a manual update is required (the RNRP Configuration Wizard has a feature to perform global update of all hosts files in all nodes).
Without affinity, clients will connect a random server and you may have a situation when the "working clients" have selected historian A while the not working client selecting historian B. The problem is then in the historian, not the client.
Anyway, I sincerely recommend you to file an official support case with your regional ABB support center to obtain professional support.
On a side note: Affinity is recommended in any redundant system to make sure you get a predefined and well-known fail over order. I recommend using Node Groups to simplify the task.
Create the following node groups (and populate them using Insert object...).
Odd servers
AS1, CS1, ...
Even servers
AS2, CS2, ...
Odd clients
CL71, CL73, ...
Even clients
CL72, CL74, ...
Then create only one affinity object having the following declaration:
Odd clients: Odd servers, All Nodes
Even clients: Even servers, All Nodes
Last, apply this single affinity object on services having operator clients connecting in (e.g. OPC DA Connector but not Alarm Logger) and where parallel service state is used (e.g. Aspect Directory but not Event Collector). The user's guides have a list of services applicable for affinity - but my rule of thumb should be easy to apply as long as you know some of the internals of System 800xA.
