Scheduling Excel Reports on Informationmanger fails
when we are using the scheduler to start an excel report on the information manger the following will happen:
In the directory "C:\ProgramData\ABB\IM\Scheduler
a folder with the scheduling timestamp is created.
the excel file is extracted from the report template an placed in that folder.
Excel start consuming a large amount of CPU while running forever if not killed.
No report is created.
The object created under "runnning jobs" will change color from blue to green and shortly after to red.
In the above directory in the ABBActions file there will be an entry:
"04/17/20 19:35:41 COM error in Report Action Batch Report Ansatzprotokoll_92_1 [Unknown error 0x800A0046]: Permission denied"
where Ansatzprotokoll_92_1 is the name of the "runnning jobs" obejct.
the file ExSingleAutoErros will show
"2020-04-17 19:35:41:231 FAILED: Error # -2147417851 Method '~' of object '~' fai led 2020-04-17 19:35:41:241 CompStatusStr = ERROR: Ansatzprotokoll - V3.xlsm StatIQ Unable to open report in Excel workbook: "
where Ansatzprotokoll - V3.xlsm is the name of the excel template.
running the excel manually from the ServiceAccount on the IM will work! So just schedule won't.
Here are some Infos about the system:
System Version 126.96.36.199 Running on Windows Server 2016 with Office 2016
if anybody has a solution for that I would appreciate the help
In this case you should first check the excel file path in main IMS server that should be same as what you have assigned in schedueler definition.in export file path, or assign new path in both IMS server and in engineering station in scheduling structure in its scheduling definition.
After that define the periodic reports for 24 hrs and its time whatever u want in 24 hrs format and then run the report.
Then goto job running reports and then run that report and check it in D:,C: where u have made the report template.
Check after 24 hrs the report will start generating according to the scheduled time.
Obviously you have had some experience with troubleshooting Excel Reports, as you have been able to configure the MS Registry to generate the ExSingleAutoErrors file. The Scheduler has some unique requirements when running reports. My first suggestion would be to verify that the "Test Action" in the Action Aspect will generate a report, as in this example.......
Sorry, some of the information in my previous answer did not get included.
Obviously you have had some experience with troubleshooting Excel Reports, as you have been able to configure the MS Registry to generate the ExSingleAutoErrors file. The Scheduler has some unique requirements when running reports. My first suggestion would be to verify that the "Test Action" in the Action Aspect will generate a report, as in this example attached.
If this generates a report to the output location, (either File Viewer or Windows directory), then the issue is with the Scheduler software. My suggestion would then be to contact your Regional ABB Support group and open a Support Case. You should send the entire contents of all the log files you have referenced, and possibly a screen shot of the Action Aspect contents for reference.
As Mr Geof Ledin showed me before, let try checking the windows Task manager to see if the Excel task is running or not. If yes, kill it all then try with Test Action.
The excel task running before may obstruct the Scheduler to generate report in Excel.
Minor comment, hope it helps.
