Setting for spare controller AC800M PM866 (primary or secondary)
I have a system with redundant controllers. I want to prepare a replacement controller for both positions.
- If I need to replace the primary CPU: Should I connect to the replacement CPU with the IPConfig and should I configure CN1 of the primary and CN1-CN2 of the secondary
- If I need to replace the secundary CPU: The replacement CPU must have factory settings?
When you connect a second controller to a running controller to form a redundant controller using the TK850 and TK851 cables, BC810 or BC820, the second CPU will at startup sync up with the primary, inherit its settings for Backup CPU IP address (where we suggest to use Default Rule adding 0.0.2.0 to the primary CPU's addresses) and eventually become Backup CPU (Dual LED going steady on).
Control Builder can be used to swap primary (failover) at any time.
As far as I know, you don't need to reset a CPU before taking it into use if the primary is already running.
If none of the controllers are running, you might have to set the initial IP address after hardware replacement before being able to download the application.
Are you replacing with new controller model? if yes then its possible only in offline can't be done online (ensure you cold retain values, modbus paramter settings are captured before replacement).
If replacing with own identical, then
pre-requisites before replacement:
1. ensure BC810 used to ensure online replacement of controllers with base plates.
2.ensure controllers are downloaded to any latest app changes/allow go online condition
if above Ok:
1. upgrade the firmware to both controllers to match system version.
2.If already used controllers are planning to use then do the factory reset to erase out the IP.
3.If new controllers are used, follow below:
a. switch off Backup/lower CPU
b. remove TK851 cable from lower side end (don't remove entire cable cause controller to faulty)
c. replace the backup controller with baseplate with new one and allow it boot
d. wait for both controllers to sync each other (if not sync time to check for firmware/old IP retained to be erased)
e. do the change over of role from primary to Backup CPU
f. If backup take over the role of running/primary function
g. switch off Upper controller and remove the TK851 cable from upper side (not to remove full cable)
h.replace the upper controller with base plate and allow it to boot.
i. wait for sync for both controllers and do the change over and check for controller to go online.
