AC800M, Is it possible to use one port for software download and the second port for SNTP time synch?
Hi,
I have a single PM866. The controller is to be connected to a simple internal service network, where downloading of software and going online should be possible. In addition, the controller will receive time synch from a external SNTP-server.
In order to keep everything "clean" I would like to separate the internal service network and the time synch network, e.g. service network connected to CN1 and time synch on CN2. Is this possible?
With some preliminary testing it did not seem possible to go online via CN2 (I have not touched any RNRP settings in Compact Control Builder).

I see no issues with connecting the SNTP reference via CN2. Just be strict about what you allow to route traffic to a controller. A DOS attack vector is opened for each connection you make. For the security minded, place a firewall/router between the controller and the network where SNTP reference is located on.
If the MMS service of the controller only bind to CN1, it explains why Control Builder M connection via CN2 does not work. However, I cannot say for sure if this is the case. Listening services and the Ethernet interface they have bound to may be output in the Network Information statistics you can pull out of an AC 800M via the Control Builder M > Tools > Remote System > IP address > Controller Analysis > More > Network Information > Get function).
