Remote IO using the RIO02 is still supported by the BRC300/400/410 family of controllers so a BRC410 can be used to replace a BRC300 as part of an offline upgrade. The BRC firmware release notes specify the required IMRIO02 firmware requirements. Note that since revision K0 of the BRC300/400 firmware, block number ordering requirements for RIO are enforced and failure to observe the requirements will put controller into error. The function code reference manual (2VAA000844R0001) discusses the requirements. If your BRC300 is using K0 or later firmware then this should not be an issue.

The BRC300/400/410 and HPG-800 support the new RIO22 remote solution. The RIO22 contains the same firmware as the BRC300/400/410 and HPG-800. Both the controller and the RIO22 module firmware must be the same revision. Latest firmware revisions for the FBS/FEC/ASI02 are required when using the RIO22.
When using the RIO02 module, there are specific firmware compatibility requirements that must be followed.
