ABB PM861 communication with Compact HMI
Hi dear experts,
There are 2 power plants at different locations. 1 power plant has Compact HMI and 4 ABB PM861 controllers, the other one has 1 ABB PM861 controller. Between power plants there is a fiber optic line, so we can directly connect our 1 PM861 to Compact HMI by using OPC server.
Now, the fiber optic cable line is broken so, we cant access our controller. On the controller there is no other communication interface, just we have PM861. There is no possibility for repairing the fiber optic line, so i will put a 3g/LTE modem. Can I acces this controller by routing its ip to router. Is it possible?
Thank you.

Yes.
I recommend, if possible, to configure a VPN tunnel of some kind.
You may have to download a Default Gateway or Static Route to enable the communication. The latter can only be done locally via serial cable.
Westermo MRDxxx 3G/4G modems might be one possible hardware solution having exceptional quality and MTBF.
