Information about TC514(Twisted Pair/Optical Modem)
Hi,
My name is Jeon, I am currently using TC514 (Twisted Pair / Optical Modem) and it seems that communication collision occurs.
Therefore, it is necessary to check whether the TC514 contains software such as firmware. Is the firmware installed on TC514?
I think it looks like a media converter without firmware and want to know the obvious answer.
I can't find any information about it, so I ask this question.
Best regards,
Jeon.

Hello Jeon.
TC514 is a media converter, but each segment is individually terminated.
It is not possible to upgrade any "firmware" in the TC514, but you may upgrade to TC514V2 which is a better , (successor)modem where you can change the attenuation to
avoid reflections when short distance optical fiber is used. TC514 without V1 or V2 is very old.
TC514* is described in the AF100 users manual 3BSE000506-xxx, where xxx is the revision i.e. 600.
Most common problems sources for AF100 reflections and disturbance is a bad twisted pair installation, bad terminal connections etc,
or corroded copper cable where the connection is via one "strand" only...
To strong optical signal will also cause problems if you don't have the TC514V2 version where you can increase the attenuation with a switch.
Old modems may also be an issue.
TC512 shall be upgraded to TC512V1 and TC514 to TC514V2
