Is there guideline for network switch (Cisco) configuration for a PN800 PRP network? We currently have some networking issues where our network seems to drop out (PNI800s drop out) and I am wondering if it may be due to switch configuration. I have seem in other documentation that the MTU size in the switch must be increased to accommodate the PRP network frame. Is this required in a PN800 network using PRP?
Hi, all is described in "2VAA002993 - Symphony Plus Control and I/O Ethernet Networking Guide", however this document is no longer public available. You have to ask nicely your ABB contact for an copy of this document, requirements to cisco switch settings are described in this document.
Regarding MTU; Switches must be able to pass packets at least 1522 bytes in size. In The MTU may be greater than 1522, but it may not be less than 1522.
What is happening exactly with you PNI800 modules? We also experienced recently issues with PNI800 dropping in and out, PNI modules stopping after an while with error led 2/3/5. Have not found the root cause of the problem as the problem disappeared by itself. Only change we did was switching off IGMP snooping that should be off (user manual wrongfully stated it should be on in previous revisions)
