Hi,
By CAD do you mean the DOS tools or Wintools? The default input for Composer conversion is Wintools but DOS projects can also be converted by arranging the DOS file structure as per Wintools. There are procedures in the Composer 4.2 Primary Interface Manual for both Wintools and DOS conversions. There were also some application guides and bulletins that may still be in the ABB library.
Other things off the top of my head.
The starting point for the conversion is perfection and even then be prepared for multiple attempts at getting a clean conversion. Depending on the size of the project it may pay to just convert 1 or 2 modules as a trial and see how the conversion goes.
Make sure all controllers compile, cross reference and bind without errors or warnings.
Clean out old revisions of the CAD files before converting.
Avoid converting libraries with duplicated content (more than one library containing the same shape or shapes).
If you have more than 1 library ensure that the shape / macro names are unique across all libraries to be converted.
Make sure all shapes to be converted exist in a library that is part of the conversion.
Only include the files necessary for the conversion. You can import any non configuration files once the Composer conversion is completed.
Signal Orefs used for communication signals between controllers must be unique throughout the project.
Good luck,
Alan
