Production System Backup and Restore to System w/ different number and names of nodes
There is a 800xA 6.0-103 Production System (PS) that runs a more complicated network of nodes than is necessary for an Engineering System (ES). To build an ES, the PS had a full backup performed using the Maintenance Structure > Backup Definitions > Full Backup Definition > Start Backup.
The backup finished, then the entirety of the backup was transferred to a low used, same version and extensions, Operator Training System (OTS). On the OTS the configuration in place has different names for the nodes and different IP address assignments.
Following the manual (800xA Maintenance p. 126) for removing systems, I stopped the system, then removed the nodes one by one and Deleted the System (OTS) using the Configuration Wizard. Then I followed the restore instructions by loading a system, and renaming it. I loaded the aspect server to the Main ACN node. Now I am adjusting services and IP locations in the Node Administration Structure.
My question: Is this the proper way to create a new twin from the production system? Is there an easier way to do this with the new System Configuration Console (SCC) instead of the Configuration Wizard (CW)?
