Communication between IRC5 robot controller and AC500 eco PLC through Ethernet IP
Hello, we are trying to establish communication between AC500 eco that has ethernet port with Modbus TCP protocol and IRC5 with Ethernet IP adapter option. I know that we will need media converter Modbus TCP to Ethernet IP in order to establish communication but I'm not able to create proper PLC configuration in Automation Builder. Did anyone had similar experience, any suggestions, is this doable without PLC Ethernet IP fieldbus module that is not available for eco PLC. Thanks a lot.
As Mr. Lurri mentioned, if data exchanged between IRC5 Robot controller is less, you might look at interfacing signals via the hard wiring approach. In case the data to be exchanged with the IRC5 is large, it makes practical sense to use a Modbus TCP/IP to Ethernet IP gateway device. My preference for such a gateway device would be a Prosoft Field server with Modbus TCP/IP protocol running on Server side of the device and Ethernet IP protocol running on the client side of the device.
Hi! I think you don't have much of options with eCo PLC. IRC5 doesn't support Modbus TCP (but support Ethernet/IP and Profinet) and AC500 eCo doesn't support Ethernet/IP and Profinet (that's why you can't configure it in Automation Builder). I guess the easiest way for you to link PLC and robot controller together would be physical I/Os.
