Connect Ver 6.1 to Controller with Firmwire 5.1
I've question regarding how to connect from system 6.1 to controller with firmwiwre 5.1 ? Background of this questions, we want to try to running 2 different system
in 5.1 and 6.1 the reason is customer want to postpone firmwire upgrade on controller AC800M, but they want to test the system can be running parallel both on 5.1 and 6.1.
When windows shutdowns, we just flash the controller AC800M. We connect network 5.1 on primary network, 6.1 on secondary network.
I think the best solution is to keep two 800xA systems V5.1 + V6.1 running in parallel.
You very quickly run into problems with differences between the two systems. The issue isn't the firmware - For everything to work correctly, both versions of the Application must be identical. And in many cases, the upgraded V6 system is not exactly the same as the old 5.1 system because there are changes in libraries etc. Any engineering changes or corrections to get the V6 system working properly cannot be reverse engineered into the old v5.1 system.
Yes, it will "kind of work" but there are lots of things that may not work properly and you cannot guarantee to the customer that everything will be OK.
Controller with 5.1 rev x/Fp x can still talk to 800xA 6.1 OPC server and xA5.1 OPC Software only on the following conditions are met:
1. Domain files in CBM station & OPC servers and Controller apps are matching. (Means no offline changes allowed)
2.No Download to be performed either from 5.1 Or 6.1 since change domain files between OPC server and controller cause data loss.
3.Once if download controller from xA6.1 then you will loose OPC Connection with predecessor xA5.1.
So always be care full while change over from system to system (Recommend to follow upgrade manual its clear and its worked fine for me).
