PPA 2.1/2 ABB System Supervisor doesn't show real physical memory
Hi all,
recently one of my clients tried to boost a bit Operator Stations by incrementing RAM to 3GB and 4GB.
After they incremented RAM they checked in ABB System Supervisor Computer Information, but they can see only the previous state, 2GB.
Is this an issue of ABB System Supervisor, or some kind of a limitation of Process Portal?
Thanks in advance!

I don't know what you mean by "ABB System Supervisor" in this version of software.
If you mean the windows Task Manager or Windows System Information, then this is nothing to do with the ABB software and everything to do with Windows XP ....

PPA 2 loads on XP - so there is your problem - go google "max memory XP"
Another way to get some speed is to switch to Solid State Drives on XP - I have done it and it does help a bit.
Dont buy the cheap SSD's.

Said version is strict 32 bit and will not make use of anything above 2 GB RAM.
There are tricks with boot.ini that may increase your virtual memory slightly. However, this is nothing PPA 2.1 has any outspoken support for.
Sanitize your graphics, use few monitors and reboot when virtual memory runs too low due to known and unknown leakages in PPA and Windows.
Consider upgrading to a more recent version.
