Refer "System 800xA System Guide Technical Data and Configuration" manual as per your 800XA version. It is not only depends on controller number , it is also depends on Write transactions to AC 800M OPC server etc..

Question: "how many people can share an apple?"
Answer: "It depends on the size of the apple, the size of each chunk every person takes, etc."
Theoretically, you can have a very large number of AC 800M controllers connected to a connectivity server (=AC 800M OPC server), possibly even more than the 48 stated in the System Guide for 800xA v6.1 (3BSE041434-610 RevA). However, given the application design, MMS and IAC communication (and other factors such as controller CPU load, network load, etc) you may saturate at less than 10 controllers...
