DSBC 174 Redundancy
Hi, I have an AC450 2.3/3 with Redundant PM511V16 Connected to 3 S100 I/O Sub-racks with Single DSBC 174 in each I/O Sub-rack. (Existing I/O Sub-Racks are DSRF 187A)
I need to Change the Single DSBC 174 to Redundant DSBC 174 So what is the Procedure and the Steps? (Including the Cables and Connectors Required)
Also Do I need to Load the Database and PC-Programs again? If yes, Is it through LOAP or Translate Source Code or Program Tables?
Thanks alot

see attached information extracted from S100 IO Hardware manual 3BSE002413R0201, see Figure 3-3 which depicts your target configuration.
I think no modification is needed in Database and PC-programs. I have no practical experience with that configuration, but in PM511 DB element there is no such a parameter for number of DSBC174 used.
Also there is no DB element for DSBC174. Pay attention to correct hardware strapping at both DSBC174 circuit boards which defines left/right position.
I hope it helps

Hello Amr
You do not need to reload the controller.
But you must make the below database software changes.
Change from single S100 I/O Bus to redundant S100 I/O bus in the AC450_1 DB element, , Do MDB AC450_1 and change Pin7: S100CONN to Redundant.
In addition you must "strap", address jumpers for resp. DSBC_174 board according to the S100 I/O Users Guide. This is described in Chapter 3 in the S100 I/O hardware manual.
At last, (very important for proper redundancy functionality) you must activate the BE_x (BE_1, BE_2 a.s.o) . DB elements elements, one DB element for each I/O rack IMPL =1 and type in DSBC_174If you have strapped the DSBC_174 boards to wrong address you will get error indication in this DB element on the Diag terminal and in the system alarm list.
Necessary hardware changes:
You need to change the small ribbon cable interfacing the DSBC boards. You need to change these from DSTK183 to a redundant DSTK 233 in each I/O rack
You also need additional TK517Vxx cables which connect the first, second and third I/O rack together, and a second DSTK 176 bus terminator in the end.
TK517VXX is available in different lengths i.e TK517V030
At last need a second TK575 cable from the redundant PM511 CPU to the first I/O rack Standard length is 3 or 3.5 meter
This cable is available in different lengths where the number after V is the lenght, i.e TK575V060 is a 6 meter cable
There are new cable kits available in Price book for Advant Master in Pricelist 12.6 , Typically you need to order one J310 and one J315 for redundant PM511 CPU with 2 I/O racks.
Best Regards Jan-Erik Rask
