PM891- Time Synchronisation using CNCP
Hi All, I am facing an issue. I have a redundant PM891 controller. I have used CNCP method to sync my controller time with server & Clients. The settings are shown in the screenshot attached. Problem is once i manually match the controller time to server time, it keeps running well for 2 hours or so but after 5 hrs, controller time is 2 secs ahead of system time & after 1 day, i can see 4 secs of difference.
I have disabled the windows time service in both redundant servers.
Can some one suggest me what else needs to be done to sync controller time with server time. What am I missing ?

You have to go through the manuals, design your time synch strategy and be 100% sure that you know where every time source for every PLC, server, client and domain controller is coming from.
In your case, you configured the AC800M to be the clock master. That means the entire 800xA system must synch to that controller. You need to ensure the Connectivity servers read the time from the controller, and that the entire domain or workgroup is synching correctly to the time service provider in the connectivity server.
Most likely you still have another time source running somewhere.

Hi,
Try with CS Time set enabled to "False"

What Firmware version of PM891 ? Earlier version in 5.1 had a Drift Issue this was then fixed in newer PM891 Firmware. You will see the Fix in the release Notes.
CNCP have issues to sync with AC800MTimeAdaptor (and AfwTime) on 6.x.
Please ask SupportLine for advise/correction.

For CNCP to govern time in computers running System 800xA the following conditions must be met:
- AfwTime service must be running in ”service” state in the AC 800M connectivity server pair (remove AfwTime Service Providers from all other nodes).
- AfwTimeServer and AfwTimeHandler client settings must be appropriate (default setting should work).
- AC800MTimeAdaptor.dll must be installed on the connectivity server pair (search on disk).
- Firewall in MS Windows must allow CNCP.
- AC 800M controller and connectivity server pair must be connected to the same L2 subnet (see next item).
- Using ABB NE870 RNRP routers between AC 800M and connectivity server computers prevent using CNCP (use SNTP instead).
- It is recommended to disable the CSTimeSetEnabled setting in all AC 800M.
- Early 6.x releases have problem with CNCP (just as a reminder for other readers)
- No interference with other clock sync protocols, eg Win32Time should not act as client in any of the computers (while having Win32Time acting as server is a possibility to enable relaying of time to auxiliary nodes; just be sure to check registry settings in each PC if Win32Time is enabled there).
Hi guys
i notice that the delay i collect 1 minute every months more or less, i have check the suggestion of stefan and i need a support...I have attached the schema of my system 6.0

- AfwTime service must be running in ”service” state in the AC 800M connectivity server pair (remove AfwTime Service Providers from all other nodes). CORRECT
- AfwTimeServer and AfwTimeHandler client settings must be appropriate (default setting should work). CORRECT
- AC800MTimeAdaptor.dll must be installed on the connectivity server pair (search on disk). PRESENT
- Firewall in MS Windows must allow CNCP. FIREWALL CORRECT
- AC 800M controller and connectivity server pair must be connected to the same L2 subnet (see next item). CORRECT
- Using ABB NE870 RNRP routers between AC 800M and connectivity server computers prevent using CNCP (use SNTP instead). NOT APPLICABLE
- It is recommended to disable the CSTimeSetEnabled setting in all AC 800M. THIS Parameter ON MY SYSTEM IS SET TO TRUE, i have not understand what is this parameters.
