abb acs580
Sir,
We have ACS 580 drives installed at our 27 MW power plant at Shree Cement RAS site. These drives were commissioned in month of March 2019. Recently we have faced some issues related to its healthiness.
1. In one Condensate extraction pump drive, the drive was not healthy from DCS (communicated with VFD on profibus protocol) the fault coming was “OBJECT ERROR”. when it was run on local panel mode from VFD it was running ok and on DCS it was showing FB1 fault ( feedback fault) in OBJECT ERROR. We checked the parameters it was completely in removed condition ( default setting). Although the parameters has not been changed by anyone. Again we stored all the parameters from a similar drive and then the drive became healthy. To secure the parameters we checked the VFD manual and consulted with ABB service person and found that the PARAMTER 96 was having PASSCODE. So we entered the passcode as mentioned in manual and locked the parameter in VFD.
How the parameters got changed is the issue.
2. Today morning ( 9/7/2019) the stand by drive of Condensate extraction pump was started and on reaching its set point of 10% it got trip. The message coming on VFD was “Emergency off” and when it was reset from VFD another fault coming was “FBA communication Fault 7510”. So it was not getting reset from DCS also. So the profibus adaptor card and profibus connector was also cross checked but nothing abnormal found.
Since we faced issue with parameters ( as mention in point 1) we checked the parameter again and found that the parameter value in 52.01 & 53.01 was “ none”. So to change the parameter we unlocked the drive by entering “358” in 96.02 parameter and again we went in the 52.01 & 53.01 parameter. Now the parameter value was normal as required. We did not changed any parameter and still only by unlocking the parameter lock the system became healthy.
Is there any software issue in VFD? Or is there any relation between parameter lock function and other parameters in the VFD?

In my knowledge, there are no correlations between the insertion of the PW and the random change of some parameter.
I can advise you, once the parameters have been set and verified that the operation is correct, to make a manual save with parameter 96.07
It happened to me only in some rare cases of having parameters that are erased, due to very rapid fluctuations on the power supply network or equally important electromagnetic disturbances.
In the event that the problem occurs again, I can advise you to involve the ABB service to understand what the cause is. A verification of the SW version that is installed on your drives could be useful
Hope this hel you, let us know about the results
