Pulling data from 800XA PMS to Centum VP DCS via PLC Connect
I am trying to pull some 800XA PMS data to the Centum VP DCS via PLC Connect, for monitoring purposes. My existing PMS architecture already comes with Aspect Server and Connectivity Server. Do I need to buy a new Connectivity server or I can use the existing Connectivity server? If I could use the existing Connectivity Server, what are the checks I should make/limitations I should ensure so that the existing server can be used to establish connection to Centum VP via PLC Connect? Thank you.
PLC Connect is a product for connecting PLC's to the Connectivity Server as Clients. You do not need PLC Connect to get data from the AC800M to the Centum DCS.
You have 2 Choices ....
- If you have a fully integrated AC800M and 800xA System, then you connect to the Afw OPDa Surrogate Server that is part of the 800xA System. You need a Third Party OPC Client Connection License
- If you have a Stand Alone AC800M either with a Compact HMI or third party HMI then you connect directly to the AC800M OPC DA Server. There is no additional license for connections to Compact AC800M Controllers.
As a very rough guide, You should be able to monitor several hundred data values fairly easily. The OPC Server should handle a few thousand values without trouble. If you need more than this please check the product guides.
Another Connectivity Server is not required. Adding connectivity servers cannot increase thruput to a single PLC.
