AC450 connect to AC800M migration. Looking for a Library in AC800M that is a good fit for the operators.
Hello,
I am looking for some input from individuals who have migrated from the Advant Master (AC400) connect in the 800xa with no library or custom library to an AC800M library. I have a pilot system running with the Minerals Library on it. The operators do not seem to like the change from the look and feel of (AC400 base). The programming blocks obviously have changed quite a lot with a new concept for interlocking through PCC connections. I have the impression that the Pulp and Paper library is a good fit for user that had the Advant Master system before. We are in the Cement industry so I understand ABB thinking that the minerals library was good fit. Some of our greatest issues with the Advant Master system is limit data present to operators through the interlocking, one connection to a IB or IC interlock that has multiple connections to it in the programming that must be met to activate the 1 interlock.

I have done several migrations from AC450 and Mp200 to AC800M with using both BMI lib and Pulp and Paper lib. I can say migration with PP lib is much more efficient because PP functions are designed with nearly same parameters and input/output terminals as AC450 blocks.
Regarding BMI lib I found biggest shortcoming in missing SEQ Hmi object, which is well designed in PP lib.
Also PP objects have more interlocks. Interlock texts are longer than in AC450.
So definitely I recommend migration with using PP lib. There are also possibilities to translate original control logic in automated way, I have only good experience with that. Conversion tool saves a lot of time.
Definitely manual translation is a long painful nightmare and everyone do mistakes. So my recommendation is automatic translation with using PP lib.

I also recommend the P&P library. Our business is chemical process industry / hydrometallurgical refining. We have a mix of AC450 and AC800M controllers. We, and our operators, were not happy at all with the 800M controllers until we started to use the P&P library. Lots of nice features and extensions to existing AC450 functionality in P&P library.
