Time sync between freelance and Siemens S7-410 system
Hello.
How would be the easiest way to time sync freelance and Siemens S7-410 system? We have a Freelance system on our powerplant, and will install a new turbinecontroller system with Siemens PCS7, and a S7-410 controller. At the moment it´s only planned to communicate via modbus TCP-IP, for setpoints and visualisation from/to freelance system. The timesync consern is mostly for the alarmhandlingissues when trouble or turbintrip occurs.
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
the most simple way would be to have 2 radio clocks / GPS clocks where one synchronizes the Freelance system and the other synchronizes the Siemens System.
If the Siemens system can be synchronized from the Windows side then there would be another option. In Freelance a PC running Freelance Operations or an OPC Gateway or a UNI-Gateway can be synchronized from the Freelance CPU that acts as a time master. You could install a UNI-GWY on a Windwos domain server and thereby let the domain server be synchronized by the Freelance time master. The domain server itself can be set up to be the time master for a group of Windows PC's. If the Siemens S7-410 system can be time synchronized by the windows domain server then you have a solution. Only question is, what time delays you would get that way.
