AC800M IP Address
I have an older 800xA System on some mobile equipment that through out its life has been shut down put on shore power many times, batteries have died in the cold and lost the program in the controller and I was always able to install a new battery and upload the program into the controller no problem and didn't have to do any more than that. The other day I turned a system back on that has been working recently and was plugged into shore power and when I turned the control system on I got an error from windows saying I had IP address that are the same on the network, to make it short and sweet the IP address had changed in the controller and I have never had an IP address just change on it's own to the same address as the standalone engineering station in the controller. Does anyone know how this can be possible?

Hi,
IP address of AC800M controller cannot change by itself.
You should check/troubleshoot your network (Windows system) with any IP detection tool.

There are two things
1. System Identity
2. Ethernet 1 & 2 settings in CBM.
Controller on a restart takes IP from Ethernet 1 & 2 settings, so in a normal case if the IP mentioned in System Identity and Ethernet 1 are same then upon a restart controller boots back with same IP as before. In case Ethernet 1 IP is different from system identity then after a restart or power off/on controller boots up with the the Ethernet 1 IP.
Please verify your Ethernet 1 IP is not IP of Engineering Station!!
Try to take logs and Contact regional service if your case if different.

The IP address can be changed with download from Control Builder M, but since a change also require a controller reset to have effect, a bad IP setting may remain undetected for a long period of time.
Check if you can find the Control Builder M logs from the past downloads. If not too many made in recent time, you might find the one pushing the wrong (and until now undetected) download. The logs will wrap eventually.

Thanks for the quick reply, I changed the address of the controller back to what it was and I'm back online, I will swap it out and put it on a bench and do some testingafter this job.
