AC500 PM564-ETH <----VLAN---> PC with Codesys OPC Server do I need ICMP?
I have a pump station site with 1 x PM564-ETH. When I am local to the site, I can go online and make changes to the AC500 PLC. I can also run the Codesys OPC v3 server and connect the tags for my project.
I connect to the PLCs using the ABB TCP/IP Level 2 AC Connection on Port 1200. There is a fixed IP dedicated high speed internet connection on site. There is a programmable router/firewall onsite.
What doesn't work:
Port forwarding on router TCP Port 1200 to/from WAN to the PLC. All other traffic blocked. When I enter the WAN IP address in automation builder, I cannot connect. Nor can my OPC tags in the Codesys OPC Server.
Creating a IPSEC VLAN and allowing only traffic on port 1200. Same issue.
I used a listener in place of the AC500 at the pump site and I can verify that traffic is coming in on Port 1200 in both scenarios.
Is there some other ports or protocols (ICMP?) that I need to enable to get this to work? Or have I taken the wrong approach altogether?
