I think it should be fine, having said that, Visual Basic Process Graphics is not supported beginning with System 800xA ver 6.
It is mandatory to migrate all VBPG to PG2 graphics before performing the upgrade.
You might need to have a specific license for SymbolFactory Graphics as well, make sure it is included in the new ver 6 license file, if you used it in ver 5.1.
I suggest reading the upgrade manual "2PAA111694-600_G_en_System_800xA_5.1_to_6.0_Upgrade" (or later revision) before you start.
If the graphics are not PG2 yet, then the conversion process comes with pre-configured mappings between VB and PG2 elements. Anything that is not already mapped by default will get a new mapping during the conversion of graphic elements, display elements, object types. Etc. In theory, no matter what you have on your VB graphic, it should convert to PG2.
In practice, Expressions seem to have about a 70% success rate. Anything coded in Visual Basic behind the graphic will be lost entirely. So there is definitely some manual work to be done. Typically however, you find that the converter makes the same type of errors in each element, so you end up repeating the same kind of manual fixes.
I would recommend that you convert the VB graphics to PG2 in the existing 5.1 system and have everything signed off as complete by the customer before you then upgrade to Version 6. You can do this without interrupting plant operation and means that you are less "locked in" to a fixed timescale for the upgrade project.
