VMXNET3 Vs. E1000E Virtual NIC Cards
We are in the process of installing a virtualized system of 800xA 6.0.3.2. The ABB virtualization document mentions to use “E1000E” Network adapter type. However their IT person is questioning ABB’s decision to not to go with VMXNET3 which is considered a better choice over E1000E by VMWare.
Does ABB have any technical explanation about choosing E1000E over VMXNET3 other than that system was only tested with E1000E.?
Any technical Feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks

It depends on the version of esxi and 800xA which adapter you can use. Using the wrong adapter can cause a purple screen of death. But with right version the vmxnet3 adapter is supported so have another look in the manual and release notes.
