How can I correct an "invalid license" error for Visual Studio 2010?
I have an 800xA for Harmony system (version 188.8.131.52) with 800M Connect features loaded so we get access to Engineering Workplace and Bulk Data Manager. The system is a single AS/CS with one client. I am getting error messages on the AS for "w3wp.exe". When I allow the debugger to run, I get an error message saying the license for Visual Studio 2010 is invalid. How do I correct the invalid license for Visual Studio 2010? In addition to this invalid license error, the client's response when calling up graphics or starting the workplace is very slow.
Is (or was?) Visual Studio 2010 installed on this computer? As far I know Visual Studio 2010 is not part of an 800xA installation.
If an application makes an error, and the application does not handle the error by itself, windows do handle the error. If there is a debugger installed (and one debugger is part of VS2010) windows ask for starting the debugger instead of just killing the faulty application. If you chose the debugger, it will be started, the debugger looks for its license, and fails if there is no valid one.
You can try to just start Visual Studio itself, not the debugger. VS2010 usually show up a fancy "get and enter license" window. Just follow it's instructions. But I fear the license handling for 2010 would not work anymore. Microsoft does not take care about such old programs.
On the other hand, why do you want to debug the w3wp.exe? This is usually the job of the developer of this program. If you not have the source code and detailed knowledge of the program internals, you have no chance to fix an issue by debugging.
