Replacing internal with external RTAB on Windows server?
Our site is moving from DCN to eDCN and long term we plan to upgrade to 800xa verison 6.x but our preference is to gradually evolve the DCS to eDCN.
Our current configuration includes Connectivity servers (800xa 4.1), Mod 300 EH and OPC servers running on internal RTABs (PU512).
Basically my question is, in order to install an external RTAB (PU410K02) to these servers, will I need to re-install the station from scratch or is there an option to just install the driver ?

IIRC version 4.1 does not support the external RTA boards. These weren't released until version 5.0 SP2
At some point, your upgrade path will need to include version 5.0 or version 5.1 so that you can convert the graphics from VB6 to PG2. The typical ABB recommended upgrade is always to go to the latest release, ( which actually means doing 2 upgrades at once) but it is certainly still quite possible to upgrade from version 4.1 to version 5.1. We've recently done three of these upgrades and there are some pretty good benefits from doing this if you're not planning on going to version 6 straight away. Especially being able to get rid of your Windows XP workstations and virtualize all of your servers.
For a version 5 system, Yes, you can just install the correct drivers.

Matt, to move from internal RTAB to external RTA's, it is required to upgrade your 800xA, because the support for this external PU's was introduced on Version 5.0 SP1.
There's no way to upgrade just only the drivers.
