how to using the CM30 to control motorized valve with feedback ?
- I am using the ABB CM30 to do Temperature Profile control , the Furnace actuator is a motorized valve with resistance feedback , i do use the CM30 with Extended Functionality (CM30/3/E /0/xxxx/xxx)
- Using the 1st analogue input for the process temp., and the 3rd analogue input as the resistance feedback for the valve.
- The profile control is acting due to the reading of the process temp(AI1)
- How to utilize the valve positioning (AI3)?? , either as alarm , or shut down

As my colleague has rightly said you can assign a process alarm to your position feedback signal and then have this trip a digital output. This is not done as standard functionality, as normally the feedback is used purely to inform the controller how open or closed the valve is.
The link my colleague has provided will take you to the Basic functionality manual for the ControlMaster series, in order to avoid any confusion you won't find reference to your Motorized valve template in this manual as it is a standard functionality unit.
If You have any questions regarding recording & Control products you are more than welcome to contact the Recording & Control team directly.
You can specify your Feedback Analog Input as Process Alarm Source.
You have to specify alarm levels (low and high) inside the CM30.
For shutting down or alarm output, you can also use Digital Outputs of CM30.
At all you need to specify source of digital Output and Process Alarm.
