Difference between CI854 and CI801
Answers
CI854 is the Profibus Master Interface which is connected to AC800M to CEX Bus
CI801 is the Profibus Slave Interface, wher the S800 IOs are connected
CI801 communicates with CI854 via Profibus DP(V1)

In short
CI801 is a remote PROFIBUS DP-v1 adapter for S800 units. (non redundannt)
The CI854 unit is the communication interface for PROFIBUS DP-V1 for the AC 800M or the AC 800M HI, with redundant PROFIBUS lines and DPV1 communication. It is a master unit and you can connect up to 124 slaves to the master. However, you cannot connect more than 32 units in one segment. It is possible to configure the CI854 for redundancy but it supports non redundant mode. Only CI854A/CI854B supports redundant mode.

CI854(Master) is communication interface for the AC800M and CI 801(slave) is the Non redundant unit(CI 840 is used for the Redundant purpose). CI 854 request the data from the slave and send the command to field through slave. Slave receives command from the master and send information to the controller.
The controller action flow should be the always from the master to slave.
