Smart Client Database
Hi Geof,
I have few questions
1. Oracle is mandatory for SC database, or we can use 800xA trends history?
If yes, then what are the advantages of Oracle over 800xA Trends database?
2. In "Info Area", there is an option "Total" with Minimum, Maximum..., What is the use of it? As in my application, customer required to total (add) all values of trend in "Trend Area", where very few trend values are displaying.
How can i get the total / addition? is it possible.
Thanks in advance.

The primary use of the Oracle data base installed in an IM node with Smart Client is to provide access the the IMMSGLOG, (Message Log), created in the IM. The Oracle schema for the IM is called ADVA. With the introduction of Smart Client, a second schema was deployed in the same Oracle data base called ABBSG. During normal operation, the Message Log entries in the ADVA schema are copied to the ABBSG schema, ie. all Events are put into new Table Spaces with a slightly different format to support their display in the Smart Client Panel that displays them. I have attached a short document that explains some of the structure of the ABBSG schema.

Concerning the interface for 800xA A/E messages when the 800xA History is utilized in place of an IM node, the process is different. For this application, a set of new Smart Client Data Providers are installed on the History Server node. One of these providers, (HISTORYCUSTOMEVT), is utilized to allow the Smart Client Panel that is used for Event Display to access the Events stored in the History Server that can be seen via Vtrin. Access to either the IM Event data or the 800xA History Server Event data is access by selecting the correct provider in the SC Event Panel.
