microsoft hot fixes installation 800xA 5.1
I am going to perform an update of microsoft security patches on a system that has not been updated in a while, I am wondering if there could be a risk on installing the last QSU downloaded from ABB for 800xa V 5.1. Shoud I follow a particular process? Any advice?
Is it recommended to stop the 800xA services or the installation coudl be done online?
Thanks a lot.
Although not stated specifically in the document 2PAA114373 "System Version 6.0 - System 800xA Qualified Security Updates", in a redundant setup I will recommend to stop 800xA Services (on the one node concerned) before installation of QSU. The reason for my recommendation is as follows: The following situation might occur; On 800xA Clients connected to a Connectivity Server which is in the process of being QSU updated, I have experienced drop outs in OPC data, i.e. "red crosses" on Graphic Elements / Faceplates. This might happen if the Connectivity Server, which is in the process of being QSU updated, have high CPU load (which again might be due to the QSU update in process). In order to avoid this situation to occur, I will recommend to stop 800xA Services before installation of QSU, especially on Connectivity Servers. When 800xA Services is stopped on a 1oo2 Connectivity Server, the 800xA Clients will connect to / switch to the redundant Connectivity Server (while the other is being QSU updated).
