Unable to communicate MicroFlex simple drive with the computer via RS485
This is my first time here. I'm Suat.
Before I ask my question I want to say I'm very new to the MicroFlex so please be patient with me.
The MicroFlex I have is FMH2A9TR-EN43EZ (I don' know what EZ means. No info about this on the manual)
I'm trying to configure the drive with Mint WorkBench (MWB). The problem is MWB can't find the drive on any COM port. I did a full search (all nodes) but still nothing. The LED on the drive keeps flashing 5 times red. It never stops (please see the attached video).
The connection I have is:
1) PCI serial COM port (RS232) on the computer.
2) An RS232 to RS485 converter is connected to the COM port of the computer.
3) The drive is connected to the RS485 converter with an RS232 cable.
I'd like to know what am I doing wrong. This is where I need your help.
Thanks in advance.

Your drive as per type code has RS485 port. So you should use RS232 / RS485 converter to connect it to the PC - like you described.
But why you use RS232 cable to connect converter to X6 terminal of the drive?
I think you have to prepare your own cable in this case, in order to use RS485 port of the drive. Try using only terminals 2 (RX-) and 3 (TX-) of -X6 of the drive to connect to corresponding terminals of your RS232/RS485 converter, If not work, try to cross these two wires, it depends what kind of converter you are using.
Finally, you need to check the boud rate and other settings of your RS converter.
I don't know what are the setting of Microflex for RS485 port - no information about that in the manual. For RS232 mode it is described as 57.6 / 1 start / 8 data / 1stop / no parity. But nothing for RS485.
Because of limited information in the manual of the above conclusions, I could recommend to contact ABB support or your supplier with these questions.
