IMS ODBC Interface to tranfer Alarm information to Third party Alarm management Server ( PAS)
In our project we have Datadiode between the 800XA Server and Alarm management server (PAS) .
Due to same OPC AE cannot be used to transfer the alarm to PAS system.
Existing systems installed in site uses ODBC connection and transfer the data across data diode using SFTP.
Customer is looking for similar solution for 800XA.
Is it possible to send Alarm information thorough 800XA IMS ODBC interface , where the third party system can access the alarm information
IM can store A&E in Oracle database tables, so any SQL capable client should be able to read near-online A&E statuses from these tables. Maybe ODBC can access SQL?
A scheduled script should in theory be able to prepare text files which you could fetch via file sharing or (S)FTP if enabled in the IM host’s operating system.
However, I recommend using OPC AE, a standardized method to interface between different DCS.
We configured a 'VIEW' (Oracle SQL query) of the A&E data for transfer.
We access this queried data via ODBC and transfer the data to the third party in our case it was to an external Matrikon (now Honeywell) Alarm Manager database (Windows SQL Server). Matrikon Collector tool connects to the ODBC source and a Matrikon Archiver tool adapts the data for storage in the Windows SQL Server database. Oracle ODBC driver is installed on collection server.
