CPU loading capability of PM858 and communication protocol
Hi Stefan,
THIS IS JUST AN ADVICE, NOT AN OFFICIAL SUGGESTION
I want to know the capability of PM858-K02, is it possible to quote the following hardware with this controller
AI801 = 20, AO801 = 9, DI = 801 = 24, DO801 = 4, AI831 = 7, AI835 = 4, DI830 (SOE) = 2, (Total analog = 40, digital = 28, SOE = 2 modules) TB820 = 7
Module Type Modules Qty AI801 20 AO801 9 DI801 24 DO801 4 AI831 7 AI835 4 DI830-SOE 2 TB820 7
Scan time: 500-800ms
Programming: Function Blocks with ladder logic
Application: Two Boiler operation
Total clusters: 7
Total modules: 70
Or should we go with
1. more capacity controller?
2. Profibus protocol?
Both will increase the cost of project
Thanks in advance

With that amount of modules on modulebus you problebly will be looking at a 20% total load increase from the scanning of the io modules, but you have to look in the performance data manual and do the calculation. For the SOE modules if I remember correctly you will need modulebus. If you don’t have a redundant controller you could add those to electrical modulebus and put the rest on profibus, as profibus adds little to no load to the controller (you wrote k02 which is a redundant set, but TB820 is non redundant). But please have a look in the performance data manual and do some calculations with the information from that manual.
