CPU and IO must be installed on the DIN rail?
Modulebus connection is good..
I thought that DIN rail was not necessary..
Principally they could work without DIN, on table like your case.
But for mechanical reasons - yes. You have to install and lock all the modules to the rail.
Also, earthing of the modules is trough DIN rail.
Don't forget mechanical lock of IO to the MTU - it also disconnect power supply (-24V) to the module if not in closed position

As I remember, if you are using redundant controller, you can not put io card nearby cpu. You have to setup a remote io station.
Youre last comment is the right one the system is redundant you can see the link cable.
The type of CPU is not mentioned. There are PM866AK01 (not redundant) and PM866AK02 (redundant pair).
If the CPU is redundant, yes - not possible to use IO's as direct to the CPU.

No, just set address 101 for your DI. Addresses from 1-12 are for direct IO's to the CPU, and then 101..., 201... etc are for clusters by optical modulebus. You also need to set address 1 on TBxx module by hardware switch
