Answers
Hello deny_zaelani,
Just to be sure - if by upgrading Freelance you mean updating you software, then the answer is astounding YES - updating Freelance is very easy and backwards compatibility of Freelance is unparalleled. Freelance 2016 not only supports AC 800F, but also earlier Filed controllers and Process Stations - almost all hardware that was ever released as a part of this system.
First you need to get new licences and new software - contact your local ABB sales for more info.
You will probably also need new PCs (or at least new OS, as Freelance 6.2 runs different versions of Windows then 2016).
Then you may try to export your Freelance 6.2 project (using 6.2 Control Builder) and import it into new system (using Freelance Engineering 2016). Most probably this can be done in one step, but if anything goes wrong You may be forced to do some additional import/exports for other major versions you missed (in this case ask your local ABB for support - quite sure they will help you with this).
You will also need to move some files with archives between computers to keep continuity of trends/logs/etc.
Last step is reconnecting all workstations and loading new firmware to controllers. This will require stopping the plant/system and loading full station to all controllers in plant/system.
Depending on number of stations and time you spend preparing the process you could even do it all in few hours.
Hope this helps and clears things up,
Mike

Hello Denny,
no problem to update from Freelance 6.2 to 2016.
Its recommended by ABB to import -> export throug all Versions.
6.2->7 -> 8 ->9 ->2013 -> 2016. Import, check an export to .csv.
We use VM Ware with virtual Maschine with Windows XP with Freelance 8 for these updates.
Last update from Freelance 7.2 was no problem.
AC800 Firmware update is directly to Freelance 2016 possible.

Can you elaborate more please? Is there any way step by step we must do before we upgarde to 2016? I mean, can we do update to ver 8 and then ver 9 last to ver 2016?
