Communication with PLC and data to other units.
We have 9 ABB PM564 PLC's which are running a program to provide power to a solar tracking system. The PLC powers a VFD to operate a 3 phase motor to drive a jackscrew. Since the system was commissioned in 2015, the angle of attack of the solar modules is sent to the system master controller. However recently this data is missing from the data stream of two trackers. Communication is via cat 5 cabling using the RJ45 connector on the front of the PLC. A short cable connects to the PLC to an Ethernet switch installed in each enclosure. A daisy chain of cat 5 cabling is installed for each group of three trackers. The cat 5 cable runs from the master controller to the first tracker where it terminates in the switch. From here another cable runs from that switch to the next tracker controller where it terminates in a second switch. From there to the last unit and another switch. The program is running fine, all 9 units track during the daytime and in the evening they power the array back to the starting point for the next morning. Using Builder software I am able to scan for all nine of the units, and they are all found with their respective IP address and mac id. However, two of the units #5 & 9 do not communicate with the master controller and each of them is in a different group of three trackers. I am using builder basic version and I cannot seem to find a means to examine any configuration files on the PLC, such as RTC and other parameters.
Do I need the full version to examine the unit? BTW I am jacked into the front RJ45 connector and into my laptop. Do I need to use the serial port to see configuration files? Any information regarding this would be really helpful as the company that produced the tracker controller is no longer in business.
